AIDS WAlk LA 2025
On October 12, 2025, thousands of participants gathered at West Hollywood Park for AIDS Walk Los Angeles, the annual fundraising event supporting APLA Health's HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs across Los Angeles County.
I documented the three-hour event for APLA Health, covering the pre-walk festival, opening ceremony with speakers and performers, and the walk route through West Hollywood. The morning brought together corporate teams, individual walkers, Star Walkers who each raised over $1,000, families, and community organizations, all supporting ongoing HIV/AIDS advocacy and care in Los Angeles.
Pre-Event Festival

Before the opening ceremony, West Hollywood Park filled with participants throughout the morning. The festival atmosphere included sponsor booths from organizations like Walgreens and SCAN Health, activities for families, team gatherings, and the informal moments that show who shows up for community organizing around HIV/AIDS advocacy.
Opening Ceremony

The stage program mixed advocacy speeches with performance. U.S. Representative Maxine Waters addressed the crowd, followed by drag performer Heidi N Closet and other speakers representing decades of HIV/AIDS activism. These images capture the ceremonial launch before thousands of participants set out on the walk route.
Walk Route

The short walk route through West Hollywood brought together the diverse participation - Star Walkers in white shirts, corporate teams with banners, families, individuals wearing commemorative messages spanning decades of AIDS activism. Route activations included performances from drum lines, mariachi groups, and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence's vigil near the finish line honoring those lost to AIDS.
