LOS ANGELES PORTRAIT, EDITORIAL, AND DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY

Portrait Services

I create cinematic portraits and documentary photographs centered on people, place, and lived experience.

Based in Los Angeles, I work with individuals, publications, companies, and organizations that need thoughtful photography with a clear visual point of view. My assignments range from individual portraits and executive headshots to editorial commissions, workplace photography and long-form documentary coverage.

My approach combines more than two decades of feature-film production experience with the attentiveness and adaptability of photojournalism.

Portrait Photography for Individuals

I photograph writers, artists, actors, filmmakers, executives, academics, advocates, and other public-facing professionals.

Each session is shaped around how the photographs will be used and what they need to communicate. We may work in a studio, on location, or within an environment connected to your life and work.

Portrait commissions can include:

  • Professional and editorial headshots
  • Author and speaker photographs
  • Creative and environmental portraits
  • Press and publication imagery
  • Website and social media photographs
  • Multiple wardrobe, lighting, and composition options

I provide clear direction throughout the session while allowing enough space for the photographs to feel natural and specific to you.

Focused portrait sessions begin at $525. Most custom sessions range from $800 to $1,200, depending on the location, number of looks, production requirements and final image needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do portrait sessions take place?

Sessions can take place in a studio, at your home or workplace, or at a location chosen for the visual direction of the photographs. Any studio, permit or location expenses are discussed before booking.

How far in advance should I inquire?

Two to four weeks is generally helpful for individual portraits. Company, editorial and larger commissioned assignments often benefit from additional planning, although shorter-notice projects may be possible.

I am uncomfortable being photographed. Is that a problem?

No. Most people are not accustomed to being professionally photographed. I provide practical direction throughout the session and create enough time for you to become comfortable in front of the camera.

Do you provide commercial and editorial licensing?

Yes. Usage is discussed before the assignment and reflected clearly in the estimate and agreement. Licensing depends on where, how and for how long the photographs will be used.
